On this week’s show, Jo, Andrea, and Lindsay share some of their favorite productivity tips for getting more books written and published, and only spending time on marketing that actually works.
They’ve all had challenges of their own this past month, so they know what it’s like not to get everything done that you want done. Fortunately, when it comes to writing and publishing books, efforts are cumulative, so even if you’ve had a bad month (or year!), these tips may be useful in kicking things up in the coming months.
Here are some of the ideas/tips they discussed:
- The Pareto Principle or 80/20 Rule and how it applies to writing, marketing, and selling books.
- The benefits of defining goals and tracking progress.
- The efficiency of outlining or at least planning out the next couple of scenes before you sit down to write.
- How deadlines can compel you to get things done (especially for habitual procrastinators!).
- The power of sharing your goals with others or having an accountability partner.
- Saving time by finding an expert who gathers and sums up the news in fields you care about.
- Software called Habitica for gamifying productivity to inspire you to get things done.
- Keeping up with your health, exercise, and mental state to help with productivity.
